ITDA  Standards Expanded to explain our ISO/ANSI Compliance

ITDA - Junior Diver Standards Statement It is the responsibility of the individual instructor to ensure that local laws and regulations where courses are taught, and also the laws and regulations of the students home country are well understood and complied with!  It is not a good idea to certify a junior diver, only to find in their home Country they cannot dive or even train to dive as they are too young!  

ITDA INTERNATIONAL CAN OFFER ADVICE BUT CANNOT SET GLOBAL STANDARDS OR COMPLIANCE REGARDING JUNIOR CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS... LOCAL LAWS WILL ALWAYS TAKE PRIORITY...

Experience programs like our Introduction to Scuba diving and Entry Level programs may be from 12 years Old (HOWEVER! IF THE NATIONAL STANDARDS OR REGULATIONS STATE THEY MUST BE 13 years or 15 Years, the national standards take priority over our standards.

Dive to a recommended maximum depth of 12 m under the direct supervision of a dive leader Dive in groups of up to four level 1 scuba divers per dive leader provided the dive leader is capable of establishing physical contact with all level 1 scuba divers at any point during the dive. Make dives which do not require in-water decompression stops, Dive only when appropriate support is available at the surface. Dive under conditions that are equal or better than the conditions where they were trained. If accompanied by a scuba instructor, a scuba diver at level 1 may gain progressive experience beyond these parameters and develop competency in managing more challenging diving conditions designed to lead to higher qualifications. ITDA Specialist diver program meet these requirements.

ITDA Open Water Diver & Dry Suit / Club Diver Courses meets this standard EN 14153-2/ISO 24891-2ITDA "Dive Leader both meets and exceeds this standard.

This Standard specifies the competencies that a scuba diver has to have achieved in order for a service provider to award the scuba diver certification indicating that he has met or exceeded scuba diver level 3 "Dive Leader" and specifies assessment of these competencies.

Competencies of a recreational scuba diver at level 3 "Dive Leader", Scuba divers at level 3 "Dive Leader" shall be trained to have sufficient knowledge, skill and experience to plan, organise and conduct their dives and lead other recreational scuba divers in open water.

We (ITDA) require as a minimum entry level for our dive leader certification program:80-100+ Dives, 10 of which may be training dives from the dive leader course program (80 Dives Experience Minimum Acceptable)Be 18 Years old and have a mature and responsibile attitude.

Have at least 30 logged dives on Nitrox or to / below 30m/100ft.Have 5 Specialist Certifications (Including: Deep Air / Navigation / Buoyancy /Equipment / Rescue ).

Be certified as Oxygen First Aid/CPR with IHMP or DAN as current or a refresher program included in the DL Training Program Be Diving Fit and able to rescue two divers from depth and get them out of the water safety Scuba divers at level 3 "Dive Leader" are qualified to:  Conduct any specialized recreational scuba diving activities for which they have received appropriate training and certification Plan and execute emergency procedures appropriate for the diving environment and activities.

If diving and environmental conditions are significantly different from those previously experienced, a scuba diver at level 3 "Dive Leader" requires an appropriate orientation with regard to local environmental conditions. In order to lead scuba divers on dives which have more demanding operational parameters a scuba diver at level 3 "Dive Leader" shall have appropriate specialized training and experience.  

The European Standard EN 14413/International Standard ISO 24802

Consists of the following parts: ITDA Open Water / Dry Suit and Club Instructor meet and exceed this standard. This Standard specifies the competencies that a scuba instructor ought to achieve in order for a training organisation to award the scuba instructor certification indicating that he has met or exceeded scuba instructor level 1 and specifies assessment of these competencies.

Competencies of a scuba instructor at level 1A level 1 scuba instructor shall be trained to be qualified to:  Teach and assess scuba students up to level 1 on their theoretical knowledge, Teach and assess scuba students up to level 1 in confined water, If supervised and authorised by a scuba instructor level 2:Gain progressive experience in teaching and assessing the theoretical knowledge of scuba diver levels 2 to 3Teach any level of scuba diver in confined water Gain progressive experience in teaching and assessing open water surface skills If supervised and directly observed by a scuba instructor level 2: Gain progressive experience in teaching and evaluating in confined and open water.

ITDA Sports Instructor Program meets and exceeds this standard. This Standard specifies the competencies that a scuba instructor ought to achieve in order for a training organisation to award the scuba instructor certification indicating that he has met or exceeded scuba instructor level 2 and specifies assessment of these competencies. Competencies of a scuba instructor at level 2A level 2 scuba instructor shall be trained to be qualified to: Plan, organise and conduct dives and lead other recreational scuba divers of all levels in open water, including rescue activities.

Teach and assess students up to scuba diver level 1, level 2 and level 3 Supervise level 1 scuba instructors Plan, organise and conduct scuba diver training courses With suitable additional training or experience to plan, organise and conduct appropriate specialty or diving operational activities ITDA Nitrox / Ntech Nitrox and Advanced Nitrox meet and exceed this standard.

This International Standard ISO 11107 specifies the level of competence required of a scuba diver in order to be awarded an enriched air nitrox (EAN) diver certification by a training organisation.

The training program specified in this International Standards shall ensure that scuba divers are qualified to Plan, conduct and log EAN open-water, no-decompression dives, when accompanied by another scuba diver of at least level 2 "Autonomous Diver", in accordance with ISO 24801-2; Procure EAN mixes, EAN equipment and other services to engage in recreational EAN diving without supervision.

The training program does not qualify divers to make dives which require mandatory in-water decompression stops or dives using more than one breathing gas and/or Rebreathers. A Nitrox training program in accordance with this standard may be conducted in conjunction with scuba diver training in accordance with ISO 24801-2, but the certification shall not be issued until such time as the student has finalized all certification requirements in accordance with ISO 24801-2.  

ALL  ITDA ENTRY LEVEL AND EXPERIENCE PROGRAMs EXCEED THIS STANDARD

This International Standard specifies minimum program content requirements for introductory scuba experiences in recreational scuba diving and applies to programs that include participants being taken into an open water environment. It does not apply to programs that are exclusively conducted in a confined water environment (e.g. swimming pools). Under no conditions are these requirements considered to be a standard for the training and certification of scuba divers.

Instead, these requirements are used to introduce a non-diver to recreational scuba diving by means of a supervised, controlled dive experience, and to encourage the participant to seek further training.

The introductory diving program does not result in certification, but is experiential in nature; consequently, in-depth knowledge of diving academics and skills is not necessary. Participants are taught only what is required of them to experience scuba diving under direct supervision.
